1. Hike up Mount Paku
Hike to the top of Mount Paku for breathtaking panoramic views of the Tairua township, the Pacific Ocean, and nearby islands. The relatively short hike is accessible for most fitness levels and rewards you with stunning vistas.
2. Beach Day & SURFING
Tairua has two fantastic beaches. Tairua Beach is known for its beautiful golden sand, clear water, and great waves for surfing. Ocean Beach is a popular spot for a picnic. It only takes a 3-minute walk from Roberts Beach Escape to reach the northern part of Ocean Beach.
3. Fishing and Water Sports
The harbour is great for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating. You can rent the gear you need or even join a guided tour. Whether you're into fishing or just cruising around, it's a good time.
4. Hot Water Beach
While not in Tairua itself, Hot Water Beach is a short drive away. Here, you can dig your own natural hot pool in the sand during low tide and soak in the geothermal hot water. It's a unique and relaxing experience.
